Becky at Holiday in the Sun is the fabulous host of "We Did It! Wednesday." "We Did It! Wednesday" is all about quality one-on-one time with our children and grandchildren, and sharing ideas of fun things to do together!! You can click on over to Becky and see what others are doing to pick up a few ideas.A friend of mine recently took her children to their local Children's Museum, which sparked a memory that we hadn't visited ours in a very long time. It moved to it's new, larger location last fall, so everything old seemed new again.
AJ explains the law of gravity to his younger siblings...
And masters the climbing wall in no time flat...
Avery is the creative genius of the family and was in her element with the arts and crafts...
Aiden loved painting too...
Sigourney just ran from one station to the next, to the next, overwhelmed by all the fun activities!
"Is there gluten in any of these items I've selected? Mommy will make me put them back if there is!..."
And who lets their daughter out in public with this much eye make-up anyway?
Washington State beaches are wonderful for driftwood and skipping rocks, but nice sand is a rarity. This is a real treat...
Even Lydia got in on the action (wearing her new favorite outfit from a little girl we love who lives very far away).
"Look at all this cool stuff for babies just learning to sit up...and can you tell I'm still working on those bottom teeth?"
I'm not great with inviting messes into the house, so this was a wonderful opportunity for painting and crafting especially. Their ideas, their supplies, their mess, it's a beautiful thing! And because we homeschool, we were able to go on a weekday morning and practically had the place to ourselves.
Yearly memberships are a bargain for families the size of ours -- it's almost as reasonable to go for a year as it is to go once when you calculate the per visit cost per-person. We upgraded to an annual pass so we can go back again and again. The kids gleefully shared the details of their morning with Daddy when he got home from work and said, "Dad, we can go anytime we want because now it's free!"
Next lesson: economics.

Hi Sweetie!!
What a delightful WDIW post Sara!!
I really have to tell you that your children are all beautiful. They have such bright eyes and pretty complexions...very photogenic! Looks like they all had a wonderful time. I love the gluten-free thing!!
I need to take Maddy to some more things like this. We used to go with our homeschool group, but their activities have tapered off. We are going to homeschool days in St. Augustine the first week of April and I can't wait!
Have a joyful Wednesday and thanks for being a part of WDIW!!
Joy and hugs,
Becky
What great photos!! Love the one of them painting! We did the same thing, only to a museum when we were down in Atlanta. It was great and the membership was only $40 more than the price of one visit, so we joined and went several times that summer. Your children are beautiful!! I see both you and Steve in them and even Ruth!!!
Hello,
What adorable children they look like they were having so much fun!!! I can tell by looking over your blog that you really love being a mom, and that so blesses me.I have such a burden for children who are growing up in homes where God and love are not present. I have however been much encouraged by all of the women in blogland , I see that they have a desire to please God by serving their family. Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Sue
It looks like everyone had a great time. What a wonderful place for children. I am so glad you took such great photos so they will always be able to "remember" that great day!!
What an incredible way to spend the day Sara - and I think you are soooooo right - there is a time and a place for messy play, and if other people and places volunteer then who are we to refuse!!!
Lydia is just gorgeous!! And how much hair!! She is so beautiful - my heart stopped a beat at the little jumperoo on her; it pleases me more than you will ever know that it is getting used and loved by another little one. You already know this - but you have such beautiful children - they have such open, happy faces (with or without make-up...!) The picture of a contended, balanced, secure little family! And I love the fact that your team are so excited about going back again - shows just how incredible homeschooling can be for little absorbent minds!!
Prayers to you all dear one!

What a fantastic place!! I love it. We don't have anything of the sort over here :( All the messes are made right at home!!!
They look like they had a wonderful time! Sigourney's shiner is still colorful, I see. They are all adorable♥
Does the childrens museum have one of those reciprocal benefit memberships--i.e. that you can use the pass you bought at the local one at other museums in their "network"? If so, that gives you even more bang for the buck!
If you have a basement, it's a perfect place for those messy activities, like painting and playdough.
