Davy Crockett and Popcorn

Yesterday was Little Man's 3rd birthday. But, shhhh!, if he finds out I just called him Little Man, he'll emphatically state "I'm not little, I'm BIG!" It has become very important for him to distance himself from his "little" sisters and join the "big" pack on top. Aiden is definitely confident in who he is.

He's Davy Crockett (and all boy...notice the goose-egg on his forehead).

For the past year, if we (or anyone else for that matter) ask Aiden his name, he summons a mischievous grin and lowers his voice a few octaves: "I'm Davy Crockett." It doesn't matter if it's the grocery clerk, his pediatrician, or a new friend. He is not Aiden. He's Davy Crockett. And he's not little. He's big.

For his birthday, we went to the store to get donuts for breakfast and Davy Crockett took a ride on the bulldozer out front. It was a special treat; I don't think he's ever ridden one of those money-sucking contraptions before!

And his birthday dinner? Steak, fries, oranges and popcorn. All his requests, of course. See the look on his face? It says, "I can't believe Mom gave in and let me have all these treats for dinner! The funniest part is that the rest of my family has to eat them too because it's MY day!"

This is a boy who loves the spotlight.

Davy Crockett, you bring much joy and laughter to our home. We are so thankful for you and can't wait to see what the coming year holds.

Happy Birthday!!! How cute is he??? I still call Michael, "Michael Boy" and he doesn't like it much either. But they'll always be our little boys, right?? Loved the pictures and steak is my absolute favorite as well!

Good evening to you all this evening dear Sara - hope that everyone is well post-celebrating!

I love the idea of the birthday celebrator getting to pick the menu - and judging from DC's face he agrees! What a sunny, bright, happy disposition he has - he is just bubbling out all over with happiness! It is so obvious he is happy, well-loved and feels safe and secure - all credit to you and Mr Sara, and the way you are bringing your incredible children up!

I am in total awe of you all my friend! Blessings and prayers to you all, and roll on the next birthday and menu choice!!

His is a big boy! What adorable pictures. You can tell that he will remember this birthday. Love the idea of letting him pick his menu, regardless of what he asks for. Give a big squeeze and kiss from his Aunt Beth. xoxoxo

Happy Birthday Mr Man,
Three already? When did that happen? Everyone here in the zoo says "I love you Aiden, and Happy Birthday!" May you continue to grow in strength and love in God.

Happy Birthday Davy Crockett!! That is so sweet. Don't tell him I said sweet because I know that for sure does not go along with the "Big Boy" that he is.

What a great combination of food. I always love when my kids pick. You never know what you may be eating.

Have a blessed weekend. I hope the weather is warm enough for you to enjoy the swing.
